Carpet car sun reflector12/13/2023 ![]() I've taken it down into lower temps than the 1st product discussed. Much thicker and heavy duty than the Dollar Store product above. It is 2 mylar sheets bonded to a core of what looks like heavy duty bubble wrap. This stuff looks exactly like my roll of reflectix. Cons - tore it to pieces the second trip. Pros - cheap cheap cheap, and rolled up into a very thin tube. Cut the wind and eliminated cold spots in moderate temps. I used this in my hammock as underinsulation. Very thin foam scrim with a mylar like film on one side. Mostly in my hammock, but a few times on the ground.ġ. I have used 2 different car shades as insulators. At the very least make a winter pot coozie! I haven't messed around with reflectix, because the reflector has worked fine for me, but from what I understand it is a lot less expensive per square foot.Ĭheck out this video from one of our members įor the price and weight, experiment with it for sure. It was all I had, and it sucked! I'd suggest throwing it on top of a foam pad, and maybe underneath an inflatable pad (sharp object protection, insulation so the pad is a separate, isolated insulation system).Īs for hammocking, I find the condensation build up on the surface somewhat negates the insulation advantages, but if it's +45 out no harm done. ![]() I use it as a chair, knee pad, food prep station, and to supplement a separate sleeping pad.Ībout 4 months ago I forced to use it as a sleeping pad on hard-packed campground soil when I found myself without hammock trees. ![]() I use a 45 liter top loading pack, and the reflector fits inside nicely, adding a little rigidity to the frame. The dimensions of mine are something like 24" by 55" or so, with a weight around 8oz. I always take a windshield reflector backpacking. ![]()
